VetDiff draws on the clinical details you submit, the veterinary literature, a global pool of anonymized similar-case outcomes, and — if the patient has been seen before — that pet's own visit history at your practice. Each of those inputs is only useful if it has something to work with.

Include the negative findings, not just the positives

"No murmur, no crackles, afebrile" narrows a differential list just as much as an abnormal finding does. Skipping normals because they seem unremarkable removes information the model would otherwise use to rule things out.

Upload the actual lab report, not just a summary

A photo of the printed panel or an uploaded PDF lets VetDiff read exact values and reference ranges, rather than working from a paraphrase. It also gets retained on the patient's chart, so it's available for the next visit's analysis too. If your lab results are already digital, a simple copy and paste of the text usually works best — cleaner than a screenshot and just as fast as an upload.

Confirm the outcome once you know it

When a case resolves, go back and confirm the diagnosis on the Diagnoses tab — even if it wasn't on the original differential list. That closes the loop for this patient's history, and it's exactly the kind of outcome data that improves the tool for every case after it.
